Quantum communication satellite

China has launched Micius, the world’s first quantum satellite, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gansu province on Aug 16. Its creators’ two-year mission was to develop a “hack-proof” quantum communications network that can transmit *indecipherable encryption keys from outer space back to Earth, said Xinhua News Agency. The first *demo of quantum key distribution took place in the 1990s, kicking off a quantum communication race.

8月16日，我國在甘肅酒泉衛星發射中心成功發射了世界首枚量子衛星“墨子號”。據新華社報道，在為期兩年的任務期內，“墨子號”將建立“防破解”的量子通訊網絡，從外太空向地球傳輸不可破譯的密碼。上世紀90年代，科學家開始進行首個量子密碼樣本傳輸實驗，打響了全球量子通訊的競賽。
